ST. LOUIS - Members of the St. Louis Cardinals are joining Siteman Cancer Center to cheer on riders in the 2023 Coast 2 Coast 4 Cancer Ride. They're making a stop at Ballpark Village Monday morning on their way to Indianapolis.They'll get there in about three days, doing 80 miles per day. The 27-day challenge began in Cannon Beach, Oregon, 18 days ago. Riders will end their journey at the jersey shore. AFFTON, Mo., - The man who was involved in a shootout with police in Affton last week has died.Police responded to the call for a domestic disturbance at the man's house on Wednesday evening. 59-year-old Karl Schuhe was said to be sitting on the front porch of his residence holding two guns. They added that Schuhe pointed his weapons at the officers, and then they exchanged gunfire. A motorist was killed after fatally striking a horse that had gotten loose in a semi-rural area of Jurupa Valley on Sunday evening, Sept. 24, authorities said.Just before 9 p.m., the driver of a sedan was heading southbound along Van Buren Boulevard, near the intersection with 56th Street, when the driver collided with the horse that was in the roadway, said Riverside County Sheriff’s Sgt. Deirdre Vickers. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, and the horse was also killed in the collision.Information on the driver who died was not immediately available pending notification of family.It was not immediately clear how the horse had gotten loose and the owner had not yet been located Sunday evening, authorities said.
