(BCN) -- A San Francisco jury returned a verdict of not guilty for Gregory Bolds, who had been held in jail for five months while awaiting trial on a single charge of felony assault from an incident May this year. Deputy Public Defenders Anthony Gedeon and Gabriella Rodezno represented Bolds, who told police on the scene that he was fending off a sexual assault, but the officers arrested him and never investigated his claim of self-defense. The jury deliberated for less than one day before acquitting Bolds and finally sending him home."The law says that a person is innocent until proven guilty, Bolds was presumed guilty every step of the way until we were able to get in front of a jury," said Gedeon, whose attempts to get Bolds released from jail before trial were denied by Judges. As a result of being kept in jail, Bolds lost his job and one of his sons had to drop out of college to work to help pay his rent. On May 25, police were called to a residential building after a neighbor ...Bucks rookie coach Adrian Griffin faces his son as Milwaukee hosts AJ Griffin and the Hawks

MILWAUKEE (AP) — When Adrian Griffin tried to lead his Milwaukee Bucks to a second straight victory to start the season Sunday night, he knew he would have an eye on one opposing player in particular.Griffin’s son, AJ, is a second-year guard on the Atlanta Hawks who is averaging 4.0 points through the team’s first two games. The elder Griffin, who will be facing his 20-year-old son for the first time as a head coach, acted every bit the beaming parent before the matchup.“I’m just like any other parent. Just proud of their kid,” Griffin said. “We want to win the game, but it is special to see him in an NBA jersey. I’m still in awe. It’s still kind of new and fresh. These are special moments that will last for a lifetime.”The younger Griffin, the No. 16 pick out of Duke by Atlanta in the 2022 draft, showed a deep interest in basketball at a very young age.“Just passionate about it. I just remember taking him to the games and I’d look up in the stands. MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (AP) — Facing the NFL’s top-rated offense, the New England Patriots limited the big plays by the Miami Dolphins on Sunday until a late touchdown ended their hopes of beating the AFC East leaders.Dolphins star receiver Tyreek Hill had his big moment with a 42-yard touchdown catch in the first quarter. Overall, though, Miami’s quick strikes were kept to a minimum until Hill’s co-receiving threat, Jaylen Waddle, doomed the Patriots.Faced with a third-and-1 at the New England 31 and protecting a seven-point lead with 2:41 left, the Dolphins converted another big play. Tua Tagovailoa found a wide-open Waddle at the 15. With no Patriots defender near him, Waddle easily ran into the end zone to seal Miami’s 31-17 win.“Miami made some plays and that was the difference in the game,” Patriots coach Bill Belichick said.New England (2-6) could not follow up its dramatic win over defending AFC East champion Buffalo last week and now needs a surge of victories in its remaining...Jokic’s 28 points lead Nuggets past Thunder 128-95 in Holmgren’s 1st regular-season home game

They came to play tonight. We weren’t good enough to compete against them.”Michael Porter Jr. had 20 points and nine rebounds and Jamal Murray added 19 points and eight assists for the Nuggets, who shot 60.2% from the field.Denver coach Michael Malone liked the energy the Nuggets brought.“Winning a championship, the one thing you worry about is thinking we can just show up this year and we’re going to win,” he said. “And that’s not the case. CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) — Clemson starting tailback Will Shipley is in concussion protocol after a hard hit to the helmet in a loss to North Carolina and his status against No. 12 Notre Dame this week is uncertain. Tigers coach Dabo Swinney said scans on Shipley’s neck, which snapped forward in the hit, came back well and that “was good news on him.”In the second quarter, Shipley ran for 11 yards to the Wolfpack 1 when he was turned around and North Carolina State defensive back Shyheim Battle hit the runner as he was close to the ground. Shipley lay on the field for a few moments before walking off under his own power. He did not return as Clemson went on to a 24-17 loss. Swinney said Sunday it would be later in the week before he knows if Shipley could face the Fighting Irish at Death Valley this weekend. Shipley is a 5-foot-11, 210 pound junior who leads Clemson with 515 yards.
